They are barren larvae of flies prepared in laboratory. They are used in the biological debridement of wounds as, therefore these maggots if feed of the necrotic tissue and fibrinous slough. Some species of maggot of flies are only adjusted to this type of procedure, as the Regina phormia (blackbottle blowfly) or Lucilia sericata (greenbottle fly).
